Issues with ACCST range with ACCESS upgraded X10s?

Hi Dennis. The issue I had was with the so called ACCESS upgrade kit RF module. I don't use ACCESS yet so my range test was with ACCST D16 mode. So in range test using a G-RX8 was only about 20 meters. With the original IXJT module under the same conditions I can achieve 80 meters. So have removed the ACCESS kit and am back to using the original IXJT module.

Again thanks for the update information i have the upgrade boards and have not installed them, my TX is working great love my Horus X10 TX all my fixed wing's and heli's are flying i have had no problems with the Access protocol setup although i like the idea of having a spectrum analyzer and power TX meter( also having the improved protocol yet to be proven) i am going to wait this out it doesn't set well with me with what i am reading but i guess that's the way it is.

In our testing we did some range tests with an X10S in D16. We then upgraded the RF and retested. The range was a bit less in D16, but greater in ACCESS. It was not drastically dropped off in D16 as some have reported. We have also installed the ISRM and are doing extensive testing to see if we want to suggest this swap for folks. We do have these parts in stock, but are taking our time and testing them before moving forward.

anything more on the testing?

I have been running ACCESS for a year now and have no issues with ACCESS range.

However FRsky has advised that RSSI low and critical warning levels for ACCESS needs to be adjust to 35 and 32 db. ACCST remains at 45 and 42 db.

RSSI is an indicator. It does not actually effect RF range. The value you select is just where the warning light (sounds) trigger.

That's not correct Konrad. RSSI is a signal strength indicator, very low signal strength does indicate you maybe about to run out of range. I think what you are referring to is LINK QUALITY. And yes you can have high RSSI level and low link quality in the presence of high interference. Most people listen to the audio warnings and believe range is about to run out. From my experience with ACCST and ACCESS performing a range test under good conditions resulted in about the same range for ACCST and ACCESS but the warnings come at different RSSI settings.

Not at all.

RSSI is an "indicator". This means it is an instrument, gauge of the condition being measured. In this case Signal Strength. It has no effect on operation. It is like the RED LINE on your car's tach. The engine will blow up at "X" rpms regardless of where the redline is drawn.

Are you aware that the RSSI values are different between the two protocols? I think ACCeSS is to have the value dropped to 35 and 32. This is all called out in the read me files.
