Is Fport required to program an Xact servo?

I have an Xact MD 5301H servo. I want to use it as a pure dumb PWM servo. EXCEPT, if would be really useful if I can change the programming and widen the servo travel. I plan to use it on a TD R10 with an X18SE (fully updated firmware). I have some experience with SBUS but zero experience with FBUS. I also have an X10S Express on OpenTX and some limited experience with Lua.

What do I need to change that one programming parameter and what do I need to do it?

Thanks,

Ed

Hey Ed, you can definitely adjust travel on the Xact servo using FBUS—just need a compatible TX (your X18SE works) and use the ETHOS system's built-in servo programmer. Plug the servo into an FBUS-capable RX, go to the "Device" menu on your radio, and tweak the travel settings there.

I think you can connect the Xact servo signal wire to a FBUS-capable output on the TD R10 (e.g., use a telemetry-enabled port like S.Port/F.Port/FBUS port). Set that port to FBUS mode in receiver settings. On the X18SE running ETHOS. you can adjust travel endpoints (typically labeled as "travel range", e.g., +/- 60° or wider).
