I have a question on the SxR self check

Can anyone help. When to use the self-check and why would I need to use it? The updated FW for the X20S Ethos now has the self-check in the device configuration and is much easer to use. I am not sure when I should use it. Also is Frsky not manufacturing the SR8 pro receivers any more?

Thank you.

In my opinion "self check" is a very poor choice of words by FrSky. What it actually does is it teaches your stabilized receiver the maximum allowable servo throws, so it does not exceed any (mechanical) limits that could result in mechanical damage or over-control when stabilization is active. Secondly, it teaches your receiver the correct attitude of the plane when in "safe"(or "rescue") mode, so the plane flies straight and level.

I have a better understand about Self-check now. I am unsure if I need to have the plane completely level when I use self-check and should I have the Gyro switch set to auto level before I use self-check and have all dual rates in Hight rates mode.

You have to be in high rates, otherwise your servo throws will always be limited to whatever maximum stick input you give during "self-check". The plane should face slightly upwards, just so much that it would fly horizontally without any control input from you.
