With OpenTX, and presumably EdgeTX, there's apparently no way to display anything on the screen but the RSSI reading while the radio is in Range mode, but if you're using a Uni receiver then it would be useful and convenient to also be able to monitor the VFR (Valid Frame Rate) reading. A simple way to do that is to set up a Special Function or Global Function using Play Value as the Action and the VFR sensor as the Parameter.
The switch can be any hardware switch if you're setting this up as a Global Function, or it could instead be a logical switch if you're setting this up as a Special Function. If you're low on available hardware switches then you could be creative and set up a special logical switch combination to enable the VFR announcements, but if you just want to try it out and hear it work then set the switch to ON.
I've found that Repeat 5s is a good setting for the interval between readings.
The attached images show that the VFR sensor shows up differently in Special Functions than in Global Functions. In Special Functions the name of the sensor is included, but in Global Functions only its position in the sensor list is shown.
