How to differentiate a X9-lite from a X9-lite S

Konrad

Very Strong User
I'm looking at the baby Taranises TX and wondering how can I tell what model I'm looking at? I see no nomenclature or model badges on the case to differentiate the long list of various models. So, if my fellow hobbyist is trying to sell me a used X9-lite how do I know what he is selling? More to the point how do I know what I'm buying!

In the good old days I could see if the X9D was an X9D of X9D+ by looking as the face plate. Also there was a tag in the RF bay which detailed what the TX was.

Today how is a customer to know what model TX he is dealing with. Is there a P/N or S/N that a customer can read to tell what he has. If so is there a chart (decoder ring)telling us what the # might mean.

I can see where this is a horror, not only for the customer but for parts sales and the repair facility.

I love OpenTX but every time I dig a bit deeper into FrSky engineering and customer support I come back a bit more disillusioned.

FrSky help yourself by helping me the customer! Please, please look at your actions and policies through the eyes of your customers.

All the best,
Konrad.

P.S.
Yikes, even the big Taranis is missing any identifiers on the face plate or anywhere on the outside of the TX. I think I see a QR tag in the RF bay. I can only hope that has some information attached to it. But is the QR data available to the customer?

I am no expert, but I think the easiest differentiator on the X9 Lite and X9 Lite S is the color.
X9 Lite is BLACK or WHITE.
X9 Lite S is SILVER or BLUE.

It's easy - plug one into a USB power source. If the battery charges you have an S. :)

For visual inspection, pop open the battery bay, if it has a little board inserted between the cells, you have an S.

Color is not an indicator.

For the Big Taranis, look at the gimbals. That is a pretty good tell unless the Non-SE owner has invested in HALL gimbals. If you see aluminum on the gimbal plate, it is an SE. Can navigate in and see if it has bluetooth functions on the menus to double check.
