Hot/Speed Power Setup?

Hey everybody,

I will be building an E-Forza and an E-Corsa hopefully soon so I am working on gathering the parts and figuring out what I want to run.

I did purchase a mild setup thinking I would build one for cruising around under power with good vertical and then I am thinking of putting together a hot setup. Not necessarily on/off hotliner status but something a step below that.

Here is the mild setup I have and Im planning to run it on 4s;
- Xpower F3826/10 800Kv Motor
- Aeronaut 11x10 prop
- Castle Creations Talon 60 ESC

For the hot setup, the motor option Im looking at is a Jeti Phaser Race 2026/3600. If I were to run this motor on 4s or 5s, what prop/ESC would I be looking at for a hot/speed setup? Would this be a suitable motor or should I look at something different?

maybe you have the data sheet, (attached BTW).
this is from pg 7

where they recommend , for the motor that you selected:
5S LiPo bat, 15"x6" prop , 120A ESC

Thanks Jure, I do have that info. It seems this prop recommendation is for a thermal sailplane as that is what is listed at the bottom. Im hoping to use it more towards the hotliner side of things and curious what other options might work for a more speed orientated setup.

consider that the Forza is 2kg AUW and the recommendation from the motor manual is for "Electric Sailplanes up to 7kg"

a Wattmeter is recommended/required when experimenting with electric power systems

Thanks Jure, that is true and I hadnt thought about that.

I have never used one before and have a friend who said they have one I can get from them so Ill be doing that for sure

more suggested equipment:

a) tachometer => to measure RPM => to calculate pitch speed
b) fish scale => to measure (static) thrust

Use that Phasor Race 2026/3600 and put this stuff on it for scary hotliner:

Prop: https://www.soaringusa.com/RFM-Prop/RFM-17x18-Folding-Prop.html
ESC: 200A (we have this one https://alofthobbies.com/products/sequre-200-amp-esc-5-12s?_pos=1&_sid=1081b3ac7&_ss=r )
Run on 5 or 6S, the biggest that'll fit. Do not run motor longer than 2-3 second bursts. Oh and carve out a couple good sized cooling air inlets and outlets in he fuselage.

I was digging through my email and found this. This is a setup by Lenny (which means it is very good, and very aggressive). I am sharing because it is a 5s setup, and you mentioned running on 4s or 5s:

This was in a Virage, and this was a full hotliner build (2 second motor bursts, 20-ish seconds total motor time). You can see from the numbers this was roughly a 4kw setup.

This gives you a bunch of parameters from which to adjust (you can make allowances for differences in the motor, plane size and weight, prop, etc).

Question: how much motor run-time are you aiming for?

As for motor run time, I dont think I want to go full hotliner with 2-3 second bursts as Im not sure how these airframes would handle it since I dont believe they werent designed for that. I am leaning more towards pylon racer style flying I think? More on throttle time and and fast but not hotliner insane?

I think the airframes I am planning to use are the limiting factor at detirmining the run time and flying style.
