I replaced the battery in my Horus with the bigger one from Aloft. The battery life is very short goes to 9.7 in about 1.5 hour.
I have the screen set to go almost off in 20 sec. Are these batteries bad or does the hours just use batteries fast.

The answer to your question is YES.. The Horus sucks up battery like I suck up Beer.. The X12S is an out standing radio... and the only failure is the battery..

There are a couple of options available.. The first is to try and find this, if it is available any where.. I had purchased one when the charging board of my X12s went south on me a couple of months after purchasing the radio.. This option has worked extremly well.. And still uses the standard wall wart charger with your X12S

WARNING !!!! THE BELOW IS A DIY MODIFICATION.. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK SINCE YOUR ELECTRICAL SKILLS ARE UP TO YOU !!!!
The other option is to do some battery modifications.. as shown in the pics.. It works extremly well.. and will work with any 2s or 3s battery you can fit in the radio.. you will not be able to use the wall wart charger since you are changing battery types and you must make sure to disconnect the charging port from the radio and go direct to the battery.

What exactly have you done in the bottom photo? are you charging the lipo direct from and external charger and have by passed the built in one.
If so where have you wired the new battery into the radio and is the battery isolated when charging.

Sorry I have not been around for a bit and this site does not send me notifications.. The battery comes with a flat JR style plug on the one lead.. you have to cut it off and then solder on a balance plug. this will match the plug in the radio.. you then use the second lead of the battery and make an adapter to plug into the external charge port.. after you have unplugged it from the charging board.. this will allow you to charge the battery using a standard lipo charger..

If this does not answer your question and you do not see what has been done in the pictures.. please do not try this.. find someone who can help you..

Oh yea.. forgot.. the reason for moving the wires direct to the lipo is for the external charger.. the charging board can not do LIPO.. It is meant to do Nickel Metal battery.... so you have to by pass it and go direct.. and besides.. it is the charging board that failed..

Hi Guys, i know this is an older thread, I did this mod to mine about 2 years ago, works great.
Question if someone knows, to make the banana lead mod so it can be charged with a 3rd party charger. Will the modded board handle a de charge?

I just did the lipo battery upgrade on my X12S with the upgrade kit from AliExpress
but I’m having some issues…. the installation was very straight forward and went without a hitch however the “power ON LED“ on top of the transmitter stays lit green with the transmitter turned off!?!? with The transmitter on everything is normal and the power on LED is lit blue.
Surprisingly with the transmitter OFF and the led ON there was no significant power draw over a 24 hr period as the battery voltage showed no drop?
has anyone else with this mod experienced the same issue?

Hi
I connect a 3S Lipo instead NIMH to the original PCB Board looks like your installation. i charge with my Lipo Charger now. The Radio works.
But this morning allen from FrSky written to me, we dont reciommend 3S Lipo, it's to much Voltage. In Taranis i use since 9 Years a 3S Lipo connected like you and i never had problems. You ever had a problem or do you have change the Original PCB with one of this Banggood parts?

Best regards from switzerland
