Hitec Flash 5 Receiver Question

Oldtimer flyer

New User
I have a Flash 5 transmitter with full size receiver that works great. I bought a Hitec Super-Slim PN-29672 Dual Conversion 72MHz 8ch Receiver JR/AIRT-Z , plugged in my existing Hitec brand channel 51 crystals and nothing happens , cannot see why ? My transmitter is marked on back CH51 72.810TF I would like a Hitec micro 555 but am afraid to order one and it not work. Any advice greatly appreciated.

FM radios transmitted on either negative shift fm, Futaba and hitec are in that category, or positive shift which includes JR and Airtronics. So a receiver that works with airtronics usually does not work with Futaba or hitec. Unless specified otherwise. Some of the deluxe radios allowed selecting for negative or positive shift etc.and some receivers worked with bothshifts. Not even going to mention PCM?

Castle Creations Berg receivers worked with either negative or positive shift.
Wow!! This brings back memories.

Hitec's website lays this all out in great detail. The 29672 Rx is positive shift, as mentioned, for Airtronics and JR transmitters. The 29272 is for Hitec and Futaba radios when using Futaba servos, and the 29572 is for Hitec and Futaba radios when using Hitec "S" servos. https://hitecrcd.com/faqs/receivers/super-slim

Relating to the Micro 555 Rx, the same thing applies. The 28272 is for Futaba and Hitec transmitters when using Futaba servos, the 29572 is for Hitec and Futaba transmitters when using Hitec "S" servos, and the 28672 is for Airtronics and JR transmitters. https://hitecrcd.com/faqs/receivers/micro-555

In short, either Rx will work for you, but only in the correct model, since there are 3 models for each of these Rx's. You have the wrong model of the Super Slim for your Hitec Tx. You need to either get the correct model of Super Slim, or if you want a Micro 555, ensure you order the correct one for your Hitec radio and the servos you use.

I have a 555 and a couple other hitec receivers I’d be willing to sell at a good price (one or two are brand new, never used) . I love my FM Futaba but I think I'm going to try out this newfangled 2.4 stuff! Lol. Im a huge Hitec fan I just wish they would come out with something new so I can stay loyal.
