Help with FrSKy Vario ver, 2

New User
Hello there, I need some help form those that know way more than me.

I have a Vario Sensor Normal precision Ver 2 that I want to run with a X6R reciever with my X20R. I have every thing set up in the transmitter and the Vario light binks, but I get no read out from the Vario. Pluged in by smart port to smart port. Have run the discover sensor , it sees the vario but has a blinking dot next to it with no readings. What am I missing. I have the same read out by switch set up that I run on my other planes. The receiver linked up fine with transmitter so that is not an issue. I have had this vario sitting here for a while and decided to give it a try. I know I can just use a new Archer or TW revceiver in the plane, but I had this sitting around so I thought I would give it a try. Any ideas?

I'd test it with an Archer or TW receiver just to see if the Vario works with that or not. I'm not sure which exact Vario model you have, as I cannot find a v2 type on the FrSky website. If it's the Vari ADV type, how does it blink on the Vario itself? Vari ADV supports both S.Port (slow flash) and FBUS (F.Port2) (quick flash). Vari ADV does have a button, but the manual does not mention what it's for.

I am unsure what version of vario you have. I would recommend you use one of the receivers that has this built in altitude and vario function like a GR6 / GR8 Plus. The X6R is a pretty old receiver.

Well after double checking everything again I tried the old when in doubt method. Rebooted or in this case rebind. And for what every reason it now sees the vario and it works. For how long I don't know. So, taking Henny's advice I will put an Archer in the big old poly Paragon. I hope this puts an end to my strange happenings with my radio gear. The X6R goes back in the box with the rest of my old receivers and such. trying it seemed like a good idea at the time.... There are times I do miss my old Airtronics SD-10G.....

You could also update the X6R with UNI firmware (see the FrSky part of this forum) to make it more modern.
