New User
So received a like new X20s today, updated the firmware, binded it to a GR8 Rx, have the channels working (except for flaps) but now comes the hard part. One thing I want to tackle is getting flaps to work, then add ail to flp mix, then on to control throw limits. I've been bouncing round YT videos and written how to's but I'm not getting anything done and am frustrated.

Where should I go to get basic set up guide? Frsky's youtube, a written guide by a user somewhere? I was okay with spektrum but this is tough and it seems youtube tutorials etc seem to expect I already have a good comprehension.

Where did you go to get started?

Thank you.

I recommend people fetch the documentation right from Suite without the need to remember or bookmark any urls.

Austin - Welcome aboard.

Give Ethos a little time, it is pretty easy.

The linked video above is not at all how I setup flaps, but I'm flying gliders with crow and 90 degree down travel. That is a different process for sure. What kind of plane are you setting up?

For electrics the canned flap mixes work well.

For sure look at the Ethos manual, it is VERY detailed and covers all of the functions and will show you the many hidden gems that are tucked away. The system is very powerful!

Thanks all!
I've spent a bit more time with it. Small progress has been made. I'm setting up an E-Typhoon I bought used (I have the Alpha 2.0 kit NIB ready when this one eats it). I've bought most of my planes used and will never again because in the planes I've bought there is always issues to complicate the set up. For example, control linkages and servo horns are never installed correctly or equally.
I've got camber flaps and fullish flaps programmed, can't get the flaps to extend all the way. I've got most of my aileron to flaps mix set up. I wanted to get a mix at 30% then a 50% mix set up but cannot figure out getting a proper curve for the 50% mix. I'll have to revisit after a break.
I only get to fly on the weekends if weather and life agree and it's a race to get sorted before Saturday.

Still dont quite understand when to use a flight mode vs a mix but I'll get there.

Flight modes are particularly useful in something like a glider. It's like having a profile for the different stages of glider flight, The takeoff, Gliding, and landing. With a click of a switch flight perimeters are changed to reflect these situations including having seperate trims and changing the flight surfaces for each flight stage.

With Ethos you can do it all in mixing, or if you like, use flight modes. I have yet to use a flight mode, but that is just me.

I recall someone telling me that flight modes are ideal when you need different trim values. I don't tend to need this, so just do things in mixing.

Here is a good article for setting up flaps in Ethos:

This article was a great help to me on my Tracer build a few weeks ago. Good stuff! That offset mix is the magic.
