FrSky X4R receiver

Good morning
Hoping you can help, or at least explain....
Have these two FrSky X4R receivers ( pic enclosed)
Can't get them to bind to my X9D PLUS TX.
I see that the instructions state : the X$R do not work with the D-SERIES Module !!!
Yet !!!
I have been using what appears to be the same type RX in my F3RES planes for several seasons. !!!
Can you make any sense out of this ???
Can I flash some software ??
Frustrated in Delaware

How long ago did you purchase the receivers?
Did you purchase the receivers from Aloft?
It is probably the V2 compatibility issue.

The X4R receiver is the later type , it supports D16 protocols The D-series receivers are much older.

If your X9D Plus Tx is the older type the internal module will need to be flashed with the later RF firmware also called version-2 or V2..
Go to https://www.frsky-rc.com/taranis-x9d-plus-2/ and down load the internal module firmware, called " Firmware-XJT-RF Module" you copy this onto the SD card of your radio and then flash this to the TX Internal module. If you google Taranis V2 update you will find install instructions. However once you update your TX you will also need to update the firmware of any existing receivers you are currently using.
