I have been flying rc for 40 something years and am pretty ignorant about a lot of the new technology in RC. I have used Futaba always but my radios are old and I needed a higher capability transmitter so I just got an Frsky x14 and an Frsky TW MX dual micro receiver which looks like a good light receiver for the glider I plan to install it in. So it says it has one s bus channel and 4 PWM output ports. So what do I need to hook up 3 servos and the esc?

I'll suggest you return that receiver and go with a more normal unit like this one:

The MX is mostly designed to be a secondary receiver, or to feed something like a flight controller. Soldering would be required with normal gear and not ideal for your application.
