FrSky SR8 PRO unexpected behavior in ETHOS 1.6.0

I removed a SR8 PRO from the airframe it was mounted in to re-bind and re-calibrate the stabilization system after updating my transmitter.
After successful registering I started the bind process but instead of getting SR8 I get select device --- the bind completed and now the
receiver line on the RF systems page reports RX1 vice SR8. System info reports Receiver1 as Archer X with the proper 2.1.14 FW and the receiver
no longer responds to Ch2 inputs.
Anyone else seeing strange results with SR PRO receivers?

Seems I somehow managed to damage this receiver while attempting to update it to work with ETHOS 1.6.0 my second SR8 PRO updated with no issues.

First receiver I attempted OTA, never again I now have a set of cables made up just to flash firmware on any receiver that can be hard wired.

OTA was a good option.. They will find the bug eventually and get it going.

I will still use it for my R9 receivers but if one of those gets bricked it doesn't hurt as much as a bricking a SR/TDSR.

I strongly suggest you reach out to FrSky about getting a replacement. This is not your fault, it is a result of their software bug.

I contacted the service center and they are willing to take a look at it but the Rx is out of warranty. I am currently undecided on what to do with this Rx,
I fear the cost of shipping and repair (if it can be repaired) is likely to be as much as a new Archer Plus replacement.

You are in California? So is FrSky, they are in Brea. Should cost you a couple of bucks to mail to them. I'd stress all was fine before their software bricked the unit, thus a FrSky issue. They need to hear this from folks that have run into the issue so they can fix the darn thing.

Brea! Thats interesting because I only live 30 minutes away. Do they have an office or service desk I could stop by if I ever needed service or advice?

Yes, I think you can do that. Send them an email. Some of them are off at some show, but they should get you going.

The service center recovered the receiver and it seems to be working properly again, I just need to recalibrate and install it back in the airframe it came out of.
