FrSky S6R receiver has low RSSI

in the end, maybe there is a defect in the receiver .
The signal path from the antenna connector and the the RF chip itself may have some damage compromising the system performance.
I always have my antennas horizontally placed on each side of the fuselage as I have found having the two antennas at 90 deg to each other actually did not help with reception. Are you using the external or internal antenna on the TX I also found having the Antenna horizontal when facing the model gives the best results.

When we test here we use the range test mode. This cuts the RF power greatly and will make seeing these sorts of issues much easier.

With this said, chasing down a sure cause of an RF issue can make you a bit bonkers. There are a lot of variables at play. As a highly respected RF engineer told me, there is the science, then there is the "magic". Sometimes a bit of the magic works for you, or against you.

Hi all,

I changed the two antennas and the RSSI problem remains. I bought another receiver (ARCHER plus S8R) and will try it.
However this archer receiver is not obvious to setup with ACCST V2.

1- How do I connect the FrSky supplied 3 wires smart port cable to a 4 pins connector on the receiver (S.port, +, ain2, -)? The ain2 pin should have been placed at the end of the connector and not at the third place in connector? How can I use the cable supplied? Will I need to make the cable myself?

2- Can we update the Archer S8R firmware wirelessly or I need to use a cable for ACCST V2 Tx?
3- Is the bind done the same way as for all ACCST receivers?

The manual does not explain clearly, bind and connectors uses.
Please advise.

Thank you,
Gorc

Hi all,

OK i just realized that the supplied cable is made for Sport and has pin3 not connected.
So my question #1 is answered. Sorry.

OK I'm closing this thread and will open a new one about the archer plus S8R.
I was finally able to flash the firmware and bind but have other issues with gains and orientation setup.
