FrSky Archer plus S8R configuration

Hi all,
I just received my Archer S8R from Aloft hobbies.
I was able to flash the latest firmware (from FrSky site) and bind using my Taranis plus ACCST V2.
All channels work well. So far so good.

I was also able to get the 3 axes stabilization and auto-level working by using a single switch in the quick mode but not in the direction I want.
I have a few issues:

I'm using the lua files found on the FrSky web site to configure the gains and do the calibration.
The script files are: AP_Stab_Rx_OPTX.lua and AP_Stab_Rx_Cali_OPTX.lua

I have two issues I don't understand.

1- Using these lua scripts, when I enter in the config script, all the gains, Rx direction seem to always display to their default values. I don't understand why since the gains programmed previously worked even if power off and on.
2- For the Rx direction, it seems any settings does not effect the assignments of the stab and autoL axes. They seem to be always in the same direction. The AIL are in the good axis but the ELE and RUD axes are swapped (not servo reversed). Where can I find the direction explanation of: Horizontal, Horizontal reversed, Vertical, Vertical reversed?

Can someone help me about this?

Thanks,
Gorc

Hi all,

I found the problem after many tests.
The problem is the latest Archer plus SR8 firmware. It is not compatible with the latest stab and config lua scripts.
I flashed the previous firmware and all works now. I can program the SR8 and read registers.
I went from firmware 1.0.11 to 1.0.10 and it solved all the weird problems.
FrSky should do a better job of documentation.
Maybe they don't even know themselves.
Strange, am I the only one that's using the archer plus SR8?

BTW now I don't have the RSSI problem anymore. My S8R receiver could be bad, as Wayne mentioned in my previous thread.

Sorry, it is hard for us to keep pace with all of the possible issues, glad you got it figured out!

For posterity I want to make sure this post is correct. I am not aware of an Archer Plus S8R receiver, there is a Plus SR8, is that what you are talking about?
Second, did you download the version 3.x scripts as noted:

Hi,

I meant Archer plus SR8. I had previously the S8R so it's easy to make the mistake.
The scripts V3.0.0 don't work for openTX. And the last version of firmware 1.0.11 does not work with the FrSky 2.04 scripts.
So there is something not compatible for openTx.
I downloaded the previous firmware 1.0.10 and use the latest 2.04 scripts and they work.
However, there is a problem with the gyros in the Archer plus SR8 that I have. It seems way too sensitive. The previous S8R gyros worked better.
You can look at my next thread (a different thread than this one) for explanation.

Gorc.

I just wasted some time trying to configure stabilization on a new Archer Plus SR8 that came with FW v1.0.11 onboard. I'm running the latest version of Ethos on a Horus X10S Express. I couldn't get the configuration script to work. I went to the website and saw the notes re: LUA v3.0. Doh! Of course that's why it wasn't working, right? Wrong. I installed the 3.0 version of the LUA scripts for configuration and stabilization and still could not get anything to work--still couldn't turn on stabilization. After reading this thread I downgraded the receiver firmware to 1.0.10 and LUA scripts to v2.05. Everything works as expected now. BTW--this is not my first, second, or third stabilized FrSky receiver set up. I have them on all my planes.
This is very frustrating. Have to downgrade to make it work!? I love FrSky, but...

Yeah, FrSky is aware of the issue, and they typically fix things very fast. Not sure why this is still festering.
