Free Airtronic Stylus Radio

Charlie

New User
I have a mid 1980s Airtronic Stylus radio that I have not used in a decade or more, but still works. I would like to give the radio away rather than through it in with used electronic trash. I also have a new receiver and several used ones that I would gladly give away too. If you are interest just send me a note and I will mail it to you at no cost. I have been hanging on to this radio for years because I love what it can do, but like many of you I have moved on to the newer generation of radios.

Is this still available? If so I would love to have it, I’m 13 and just getting into the hobby.
Thanks,
Noah

Noah, I have a few things that I can give you to get you flying. I don't know if you could have someone drive you to walnut creek, or if you could take BART. Please let me know.

We usually have a radio or two around here that we save for youth getting into the hobby. Sadly we just let our last one go.. Will keep an eye out for some more.

Anyone have an old FrSky or something for him?

Yeah thank you, I can have my mom bring me. We are just about to leave for a trip a get back 4-15-23. So if I could pick it up after that, that would be perfect.

I have an old JR 9303 that is in near perfect condition. would just need a FRSKY JST module. That's what I used before buying my first X9 radio years back. I can try to bring that with me to donate to a Noah or a newby or even an old timer that has an affinity for JR stuff. I have the FM module and an RX for it also.
edit: also have the manual for it.

I have my x9 radio still, im not using. I could bring that to sunset. @Nova you coming to sunset? If not ill give it to somebody closer to you. If you do come let us know, im sure we have some planes we could gift you.

Yep, and my X7 and X-Lite will be cleared of models very soon and available. :)

Noah,
this is the plane that I have just tested for you.
Polyhedral balsa wing from a Playboy Senior Leisure 68" wingspan , with "Modesto R/C Club" sticker , almost Bugatti blue color ( grin , ;) ).
Multiplex Easy Star fuselage , modified for tractor mode propulsion.
BL10 Motor , Kv=800 RPM/V , from a Parkzone warbird , 30A motor speed controller (ESC) , 12"x8" Master Airscrew folding propeller.
2.4 GHz transmitter and receiver, Walkera-ExceedRC .
3S LiPo flight Battery and charger.
Battery Voltage tester, with low Voltage alarm.

A few questions, how long does it fly for, and can it be used for slope soaring?

Thanks,
Noah

15 minutes on one battery. yes it can slope soar, but for that there are better planes.
Let's do one thing at a time, and see how you progress.
This test flight was done five blocks from my home. We can fly there when you come to pick it up.

Noah,
here is some preliminary homework for you.
Download , install and practice flying with the (free) flight simulator "picasim".
It has options for powered flight and gliders too,

Great suggestion Jure. Noah, you may be able to use an xbox or playstation game controller with it until you get a regular RC transmitter. (y)

If you make it to Sunset introduce yourself and we will get you flying. We have some little planes that are indestructible and a lot of fun.
