Forza 2.5

Some video with sound Long Reef Australia. I’m having much trouble uploading video. Anyone know the video parameters for the forum?

Hi all,

I’ve just had my first flight of the year with my Forza and am grinning from ear to ear (not pretty).

I took the Magnus out to “test the water” and she was really ripping, so the Forza was rigged up and given a chuck.

She’s just so great to fly and can just take anything that’s thrown at her. I’d say that the more extreme the conditions, the better she goes.

I’ve got something arriving in the post tomorrow that should double the fun….:)

Martin

A quick question about the firewall/motor mount:

For a ~1kw motor setup, what thickness of grp firewall should I make? Would 2mm be OK?

Cheers, Martin

Thx Doc: 3mm grp sheet ordered (y)

As I’m going to be flying my electric Forza mostly at the slope, I’m thinking of reinforcing the cockpit area with some carbon tows/extra glass for those “less than perfect” arrivals that sometimes happen 🤬 its usually around the cockpit opening that breaks first.

Anyone got any experience of the toughness or otherwise of the front end of the E fuse? Or am i worrying needlessly?

Cheers, Martin

I just ran some numbers for my motor setup:

Hacker B40 9L with 4.4:1 gearbox
Hobbywing 80A ESC with UBEC
Optipower 1800Mah 4S ultra 100C lipo
GM 14x9 carbon prop on 40mm Aeronaut Z spinner

Static figures:
Model weight 2300g/81oz/5lb
Thrust 4600g/160oz
Power 927W @ 88% efficiency
Pitch speed 110 kph/ 70mph
Power to weight 185W per pound

It should go quite well, i think :)

Tail end is almost done - I used the exact same method as on the glider fuse - much easier second time but it would be good for Aeroic to supply the ball joint and elevator joiner. ...and maybe a bigger servo hatch LOL  😭😭😭

As before, a small hole in the rudder post allows the servo arm to be removed.

Might be a good idea to replace the pacemaker battery Martin... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Doc.

...and moving on to the pointy end...:)

The 3mm thick motor mount needs to be 39mm diameter - a 44mm holesaw gets you 90% there and a bit of filing makes it spot on.

Just need to drill it to suit the Maxxon gearbox and get the glue out.

Actually quite enjoying this...
