Flap Setup

Can someone please explain in simple language how to setup normal flaps, that is one flap on each wing.
I am beyond frustrated at how complicated it appears to do such a simple function. I am using the flaps on channel 5 on a 3 position switch.

X10s Radio and RX8R receiver.

What OS? I assume you are using a Y connector.

Sorry I see this is on the FrOS heading. I know nothing of the FrOS.
