Firmware Upgrade(s) for (now-early) FrSky X-Lite transmitters?

Guys, due to a rough cancer battle and stuff, it's been a long time since I've been active. I'm doing very well now with the cancer recovery and am trying now to get back in the mix.
I just have two (now-ancient) FrSky X-Lite transmitters, and I just want to make sure I have the latest Firmware for them. Can you help me with this request?

1.) I have an X-Lite S that I bought from Aloft years ago that currently has:
  • Firmware: opentx-exlites
  • Version: 2.2.13 - otx (fa21b8ef)
  • Date: 2021-06-24
  • EEPR: 219
2.) I also have what I assume is an earlier X-Lite transmitter (perhaps the earliest X-Lite?) that I bought used from a guy on RC Groups:
  • Firmware: opentx-xlite
  • 2.2.2 (3680b93d)
  • Date: 2018-05-27
  • EEPR: 218
Thanks in advance for any advice. And best wishes for your upcoming Camp & Fly event!

John,

If you have no model memories you need to keep, you can just go to the current update via OpenTX Companion. Not a bad idea to update the RF firmware also, this will make you need to update the receiver firmware also.

Wayne, thanks for the prompt and helpful reply. I'm just a "simple" user as I'm just trying to operate simple gliders e.g. Alulas, Weasels, and PSS gliders... all for the most part using just ailerons & elevator.
Unfortunately I do have lots of models set up in memory, but I can let them all go if it is necessary.
I've just now downloaded the latest version of OpenTX Companion and will give it a go.
My receivers are FrSky RX4R and D8R-II Plus.

There's no reason to loose your models, just make a backup of both transmitters before upgrading. The upgrade will convert the models to the newer version of OpenTX.
You might need companion 2.2.4 for the earlier X-Lite radio, which can be downloaded here: https://www.open-tx.org/2019/07/11/opentx-2.2.4 (bottom of the screen). After making a backup, I recommend to upgrade the earlier X-Lite radio to 2.2.4 and after that, upgrade it to 2.3.15. Be sure to setup the correct radio-profile for each radio so that it will not try to download/flash the incorrect firmware.

For the X-Lite S, you go go straight from 2.3.13 to 2.3.15. But also make a backup before doing so.

When you're at 2.3.15, it is recommended to upgrade the transmitter module firmware also (from within OpenTX).

The IXJT-module firmware for the X-Lite can be downloaded here: https://www.frsky-rc.com/wp-content/uploads/Downloads/Firmware/ACCST-2.1.x/FW-iXJT-XLITE-v2.1.0.zip
You need to extract the zip-file, then put the IXJT-XLITE_ACCST_2.1.0_FCC.frk file from the zip-file on the SD-Card, in the FIRMWARE folder. Then from OpenTX, go into the MAIN menu, go to the SD-Card menu, then open the FIRMWARE folder and long-press the IXJT-XLITE_ACCST_2.1.0_FCC.frk file and select to flash the Internal module.

The ISRM-module firmware for the X-Lite S can be downloaded here: https://www.frsky-rc.com/wp-content/uploads/Downloads/Firmware/ACCESS-2.x.x/ISRM-X_2.1.10.zip
You need to extract the zip-file, then put the file ISRM-S-XLITES_2.1.10.frsk from the zip-file on the SD-Card, in the FIRMWARE folder. Then from OpenTX, go into the MAIN menu, go to the SD-Card menu, then open the FIRMWARE folder and long-press the ISRM-S-XLITES_2.1.10.frsk file and select to flash the Internal module.

After flashing the transmitter module(s), you need to also update the firmware of the receivers, the D8R-II plus doesn't need to be updated since D8 protocol has not updated with the new iXJT-firmware.
For the RX4R, it depends on the radio you're using, if you only use the X-Lite S radio you can use ACCESS firmware, otherwise use ACCST firmware. See https://www.frsky-rc.com/rx4r/ for the firmware files. Put the firmware on the SD-Card of the radio('s) and flash it via the S-port on the radio (similarly as the iXJT/ISRM module, but selecting external module or S-Port as a flashing option - I'm not sure exactly how it's named on these radio's).
