Firmware update question

leithalweapon: If you can search Co-pilot (Microsoft AI) and query "Is X20S compatible with Archer SR8 Pro" you will get "Yes" and this website which has various compatibilities. https://www.airbossrc.com/post/which-receivers-are-compatible-with-my-transmitter

Then search the FrSky website for Archer SR8 Pro and you get to this https://www.frsky-rc.com/archer-sr8-pro/
This indicates that the latest firmware version for the Archer SR8 Pro receiver is 2.1.14.

Bottom line is that you now know the latest version is 2.1.14

The latest Archer Pro firmware software does not seem to be compatible with Ethos 3.01. In that case you won't be able to use that receiver with X20S. You can then at least use it with the older transmitter or with the X20S but not in stability modes. If you try to update it by cable you will know pretty quickly that problems are not related to OTA update issues. My guess is that the Archer Pro series is a low priority with FrSky for assured compatibility with Ethos 3.01 software. Maybe they will update it eventually.

Just one more thing that makes me regret buying it early on. The updates were fast and furious in the beginning and now none of my stabilized rx's work. I feel like I should have waited a few years before buying it.

The future entails the Tandem SRx receivers. Dual band and a lot of pain during setup and calibration is removed. Yes, still evolving but getting better with the bugs getting worked out. My Archer SR8 Plus works ok. The problems I had were solvable. The older SxR ACCST receivers have been included in their updated compatibility strategy. Just not the Archer pro as yet. I'd look at the Tandem and get one. It just needs a factory reset after an update and should do anything you want plus gives you dual band safety. IMHO.

BTW, the link to this document shown below was originally found on the Aloft forum which then led to an update with Steve Schlessenger. It contains the Blue LED problem, but more importantly it covers the setup process for stabilzed receivers in Ethos. It covers Factory Reset of receivers, OTA vs. cable update, and a links to a whole bunch of corresponding videos on the process. I hope this is found to be useful by all the newcomers to Ethos radios. Doing this helped me a lot.

Would be nice if FrSky saw it that way but they "must charge to cover labor" was the response I received. Guess I shouldn't complain too loudly as the cost would have been double if I had to buy replacements vice cover labor and shipping costs.
