Extra low power "speed 400" pylon racer

Hi all,
I find interesting today to equip a former "speed 400" pylon racer, with an extra low power, extra light "modern" setup.
you get a "light & silent" 400 racer, with extra low stall speed, long flight time and the speed of a stock radjet (without the noise)

here's my example:
720mm span, MH22
extra low power setup ~30W (less than 3A level flight !)

extra light weight ~180g (all-up)
long duration flight: 9min WOT, 12-15min on mixed mode

setup:
2000 kv, 17g outrunner
6A ESC
3s/450mAh battery
4.7x5.5" APC electric prop
3.7g servos

(FYI, the flight was aborted cause my Tx batt went low. but there was 50% left in the bird's batt...)

I find this format very pleasant, fast enough but not stressful,
very easy to pilot, launch and land. a breeze.

is there anyone else here in this mood ?
is there any competition out of this kind currently ?

Yep- I have tried to talk folks into this sort of setup for years. Super light, cheap and a bunch of fun to fly. I'd argue more fun to fly as it takes a lot of stress out of the picture.

This is a great example of how much extra power it takes to go 50% faster. On light setup you are humming along at 100mph, but to get to 200mph it will need 4 or 5 times the power and be close to burning things up.

right !
going from simple to double the speed needs 8x the power. it's a cubic relation (2^3)
this thing flies ~80-85mph with this ridiculous setup !

only 5.5A static and less than 3A in flight !
as you said, takes lots of stress out, yet fast enough to make you heart race whenever you push the throttle
+ stands the harsh landings thanks to its low weight...
(at the time of speed 400s it was in the +400g range which made it very fragile...)
