Ethos SD Card copying?

I always tend to replace SD cards from the ones included with elextronics without a brand name. Anyhow, the question is can I copy all of the contents, including all the hidden files, and expect it to just work? Should I make an SD card image and write that onto the new card?

You can copy the contents over directly (make sure the card is properly formatted first), or you can go to FrSky's website -> Radios -> X20 -> Downloads -> GitHub for the direct/updated files themselves.

There has already been another OS/SD card update since we shipped, so I would recommend the latter of to get the updated firmware on your radio.

I did the update to 1.0.6, and I think i got the SD card also, I now have some models, pictures, and .wav files I want to keep.

I also, though experimentation just learned that you cannot rename the model files, so I'm a little confused on how they are meant to be traded from radio to radio. I guess you just have to change the number on the file name to something that is free?

Yes through experimentation the model file name must be modelxx.bin where the "xx" is 01, 02,03. If you name them something else it breaks the OS on boot. Also, I realized that the order of the models in the display is dictated by these numbers on the file names (they are alphabetized).

Btw, there was also an update to TD-ISRM 2.1.7 today, which is apparebtly pretty important for frame loss with some 900MHz receivers.

I suspect we may see another ISRM update soon. If you aren't using the 900, you might just hold off a bit longer.

The SD cards that frsky is now using should be good units. They are doing much better QA on them to make sure they are getting quality parts. Previously they were not testing and as a result were being sold some junk.

As you have figured out the mixer logic using OpenTX. I can't think why this wouldn't work with Ethos. Just type it in.

If you are asking is there a program that will port OpenTX files into Ethos. I don't think so. They are from two different firms and the programs use a different philosophy. So not likely to be offered, but then I suspect if it was, there would be a lot of manual adjustments needed to the ported over programs.

Really you have already done the hard part in OpenTX figuring out the mixer logic for the inputs and outputs.

Not aware of a converter, so programming fresh will be the order of the day, but this is a good thing. You will learn Ethos quicker, and and I think you will end up with a better programmed plane then using converter.
