Ethos 1.5.X - Some great new features.

The new version of Ethos is about to drop. I was just reading about some of the new features, lets just say they have taken a great program and stuffed a lot more under the hood. Some very powerful, some very handy. Check this posting on RC Groups for a rough idea:

Some of my favorites are:
Bluetooth File Transfer - Copy models over to your buddies radio.
New Stabilized Receiver Wizard sounds pretty sweet and should make those receivers much easier for folks to utilize.
Enhanced Free Mix adds even more power.
GVARS (global variables) have been requested by folks for a long time.
Some power features like the LUA development should see even more products and evolution on FrSky radios via third party projects.

And there are also fun things like having different voice sets, I think these can be used by different models, so one can be male and another female.. Not sure why, but there you go..

Looking forward to the production release.

I did the up date now some of the voice files don't work, How come? what do I do now? I tried to do a go back to earlier version and radio crash lost all my models. I was able to recover them.

Nice to see Ethos catching up, erskyTx has supported file transfer over bluetooth since late 2018!

The sound file location moved...did you read the manual?

I upgraded when the first version of 1.5 came out, and things changed a bit on the next version, but when I did it, I had no audio until I went into the audio settings and set Voice 1.

Once a model is upgraded to 1.5 you cannot go back, so you should back everything up before doing so.

I unfortunately didn't know you could not go back, I tried to go back, lost all my models I was able to get them back but lost some settings.

I had to copy a older model file to get my models back and I did get them back. I am not sure how to get the 1.5.0 the wave file to play, Do I need to reinstall the 1.5.0 from ethos suite? I see in special functions voice1 default. but it is not highlighted so I guess I can't play files unless it is highlighted, I am not sure what I need to do to play voice flies? any help would be greatly appreciated. I am now to ethos I have X20s radio.

I believe ETHOS is now just as powerful, or darn close to it as OpenTX

IMHO it has outpaced OpenTX for sometime.

I loved OTX.. I switched to Ethos and was very happy with it as well... I was able to make some headway at the field getting people to take Ethos seriously because it was WAY simpler than OTX and people understood it.....
Enter 1.5....... It is now more complicated by a lot.... I am a tech weenie and I have had to spend some time figuring things.out.... It is no longer simple......

I feel like someone needs to keep on top of the developer...... there is a lot in their that nearly no one will ever need and many people won't be able to operate it any more...

Also.... I bought Xact servos..... I had to update my radio so I could make them work..... at least with TD10.....
the servos had to be updated before they would work....
Just when I was thinking Frsky would appeal to the average JOE>>>>>


I do love their stuff. but I think ethos could have been kept simple And made powerful ..

any one else feeling this way?

The FrSky president really like "features" in his radios. With this said I don't think he has much input for Ethos development. A lot of the feedback comes from the users around the globe. There are still a few odd things that OpenTX could do that Ethos can't, and I see those things being requested. Needless to say as more and more abilities are added, complexity also grows.

I think Ethos does an excellent job of keeping things pretty darn simple, yet offering gobs of options. No easy task.
