E-flite Draco with reverse engine ability, can you program that using the X-20 S?

I had been looking at the Draco 2.0m from E-Flite and had asked in this Forum if I could Use my Taranis to fly it. The easiest solution was to put a FrSky receiver in the plane rather than finding a module to do it. The question that I didn't ask was how to make the engine do the reversing number with my new X-20S and the FrSky receiver. I just looked the FrSky Neuron speed controllers and someone mentioned that they do motor reversing sounds like that's the way to go. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ed

I don't think you can do it without the the Spektrum ESC and receiver.... Mine is set up on a JR 9303 with a Spektrum 2.4 module, and along with the Spektrum ESC and receiver it works however, the plane indicates bind with the SAFE feature. but it doesn't seem to actually work. I'm not familiar with the Neuron ESC's. The proprietary stuff that HH and Spektrum come out with drives me nuts.

I would swap the Spektrum ESC for this Hobbywing FlyFun 120A, it and nearly ALL of the Hobbywing ESCs have reversing. You'll need the program card to go with it: https://alofthobbies.com/hobbywing-flyfun-120a-esc-v5-1.html
You'll notice a fourth lead off the ESC receiver lead, that's your reverse lead. Connect it to the channel you want to use as your gear shift. I have it on a momentary switch. Set the weight to 50% on said channel and it should work.

Jarron, a question about the Hobbywing ESC. Will it reverse immediately like the Spektrum deal, or do you have to throttle down before reversing like the Avios Albatross?

There's no reason you have to do anything more than add your FrSky receiver, here is the excerpt from the Draco manual.

You don't need to throttle down, but it does take a few seconds for the esc to brake, then reverse the motor.

Sounds like you can stay with the stock ESC, just nned to set up a mix channel for the reversing.

Thanks for your input, both the Hobby wing and the Spectrum look like interesting ways to go but I ordered the Neuron 60 amp because of not knowing about the set up compatibility. Wlll let you know how it works out.
