I was thinking of using EC2 but they are physically larger and I didn't have any "equipment" side connectors. At 11amps and 100 watts I think the micro Deans is actually the better connector. Not night and day better but as I had them and they fit I used them. I think the EC2 have a better cycle life. Unfortunately for me this rarely is a concern
I bought a battery that has a XT30 plug so i bought some pairs from Aloft to make up some charging connectors. I think they are a little smaller than the EC2 plugs.
XT30... when a JST just doesn't carry enough amps and the XT60 is physically bigger than you would like to carry in your craft. No cheap knockoffs, these are genuine Amass. Sold as a single pair of connectors (one male, one female)
A bit more follow up. Unfortunately the air wasn't near as smooth as it was in the first video. Nor was my flying! I think you will notice that with the new prop 13x10 the acceleration in the vertical is much better. I'm a bit surprised at how fast it is in the horizontal.
The dive test is showing a very nice shallow pull up after a long run. First pass from the left to the right.
Also the spoiler now has very little effect on pitch attitude. You can see this in the low level circle where I was cycling the spoiler open and closed. There was no dive for the ground like we saw in the first video.
Down thrust looks real good in that there is no tendency to loop in the vertical. The jump from low speed level flight to high speed flight is just straight ahead. Also the low power go around has no adverse effect with the addition of power.
I now think the DJ Aerotech Chrysalis Lite is near perfect for the new F5-RES class.
Not that I'm aware of. I think there have been only a few contests run to a loose set of rules down in Florida. That is rules are still under development. Like the altitude at which the motor is shut down. I think there is a push to run F3-RES and F5 RESt at the same time.
