DHT/D6FR alarm warning on low voltage/poor reception?

I am using a DHT module in my Kraft single stick Mk IV transmitter with the telemetry output connected to the RF output meter of the transmitter. I have a D6FR receiver in my Proctor Mini Antic. Here is what's happening. When I turn on the transmitter and then the receiver, the transmitter will beep as it connects to the receiver, and the RF meter will drop a bit after the beep. If I walk away from the airplane, and get about 40-50 feet away the transmitter will begin to beep and the meter needle will fluctuate each time the DHT beeps. I have checked the battery voltage (4.8V in the receiver and 9.6 V in the transmitter) both are fine with good capacity. I suspect the beeping is due to poor reception as it occurs when I move away from the plane. Question: 1. Is the beeping due to poor reception? The instructions for both the receiver and transmitter modules mention a signal loss alarm, but neither states what form the alarm will take. 2. If the beeping is the alarm, what can be done to improve the signal? The transmitter has been used with other aircraft with no issues, and the receiver antennas are separated and extend into the open fabric covered fuselage area of the Antic. Thanks for any help or suggestions on this issue.

How did you connect the telemetry to an RF meter? Details please.

OK - So these modules will beep if the RSSI is getting low. This is a warning that the signal is getting weak. You can also setup a range test with the module and see how far you can get before it beeps and or drops connection. This will tell us a bit more.

Warning, never run the DHT without an antenna. It will do damage right away and results in less and less range.
