Carbon Falcon Radio Install: Photos?

It finally dawned on me that attaching a radio with an internal antenna (Spektrum AR630) to the CF's carbon spars was not the brightest idea in the world.

So I switched to a radio with external antennae (AR6610T).

Right now, the antennae are just "Blowin' in the wind", as the song says.

The only solution I can come up with involves a couple of small velcro pile patches on the underside of the sail and corresoonding hooks on the antenna wires.

Can anybody post a pic of their installation?

Not looking for a fight, but have you read the manual? Under Radio Install and Programming it states to tape the antenna to the sail.

I don't own a C Falcon nor do I know anything about the Spektrum RX antennas*. But I'd place the antennas at 90° to each other and not parallel to any carbon to address fade issues common with 2.4 gHz (or other ultra high frequencies) See red and green lines. I'd also try to place the antenna on ether side of the battery, red lines.

There are some Double E's on this forum who can go into much more detail about antenna placement and theories.

* Spektrum has a Texas instruments antenna design in some of their RX that is much different from the coaxial whiskers.

Yep, a little clear tape.

Even your receiver with the internal antenna should be fine. The plastic case of the receiver should keep it from using the carbon as an extension to the antenna (detuning it) and the small areas of carbon blocking RF should not be an issue on the Falcon.
