Cant get FMS sim to work with X9D and the frsky dongle

I have the dongle bound to the X9D but the sim is not able to work with it. Any help appreciated

May be a big challenge. You're trying to hitch an 1800's wagon to a brand new Ford Mustang..... (well, 2004 software, that could be installed on floppy disks, if need be).
But, give us a few more details either here or over there. What operating system on the laptop? Do you know how to setup basic models in the Taranis?
The last time it worked, what were you using (controller, computer/operating system if different, etc.)?

Possible areas of problems:
1. Model not set up in the Taranis to produce outputs to the dongle, even though it is bound.
2. Dongle not recognized by Windows as a joystick controller. Try direct with USB (still needs a basic model setup, though).
3. If seen in Windows, FMS might not be able to recognize it due to changes in Windows.
