Can't get Dualsky FC151 to work with delta wing in auto level mode

Hello!
I have a delta wing radio controlled airplane that I am trying to use the Dualsky FC151 with. I've used the FC151 on a number of conventional wing and tail airplanes, all with great success. But I'm having trouble this time.
When I first started I had configured my transmitter to the delta wing configuration, but then learned that it should be configured as a normal airplane and that the FC151 would do the delta wing configuration internally. So I changed the transmitter to a regular configuration airplane (aileron, rudder, and elevator). My Frsky receiver is connected to the FC151 with the SBUS out going to the FC151 SYS in (the channels are configured 1 to 5 as aileron 1/elevator/throttle/rudder/mode switch as required to use SBUS). My aileron1 output from the FC151 is connected to my left elevon, and my elevator output from the FC151 is connected to my right elevon. All of this is as shown in the delta wing illustration in the FC151 manual, page 6. Oh, and I forgot to say that I set the FC151 up for delta wing mode.

With the FC151 in GYRO MODE OFF, all of the controls work perfectly. Elevator up gives elevon up controls in unison, right bank gives left elevon down and right elevon up, left and right rudder work perfectly, etc. The problem is when I try to go into auto level mode (I don't spend much time in aerobatic mode because I don't use that, and it's harder to check anyway). The rudder works perfectly in auto level mode and responds correctly to forced yaw attitudes. But I can't figure out any combination of gains and correction directions that will correctly set the elevons to adjust properly in forced bank and up/down attitudes.

What could I be doing wrong? Is there some sequence of adjustments I should be using to zero in on a proper combination of gains and correction directions for the AIL and ELE? As I mentioned, the rudder auto level is working perfectly.

Thanks for any advice you might offer.
