Would be easy enough to try out. But I suspect the "stiff" bushes in the landing area are still going to be stiff, you just won't be able to see them. Would be a good thing to have over the sand in the inner area to keep some of the sand out of the models??
 
I think that the canvas will make a smooth and compliant surface,
the branches will cease to behave as obstacles with sharp features
 
i like this landing pad idea. Would work on the north side in the bushes at sunset:

Would just need to be heavy duty enough to not get punctured. Dont think a tarp would be thick enough



Good Idea but, might want to check with our park spies that sit in their trucks (rangers), on the North Hill, looking at our planes flying. They might not understand that we are trying to protect their bushes from damage. We could also setup a 'Volleyball net" for catching planes in the main landing area - the rangers might not notice that, its a beach after all!:rolleyes:
