My wife and have been working out almost every weekday morning since last sunset, but than we took 2 weeks off for winter break and its been tough lol. Exercise is dumb

I do find that having a clean shop really helps like he says in his video.

Thanks Nate, I needed that vid. I've also been slacking on my days off. MOMENTUM.
I have always been the opposite, but I don't know why. Maybe it's some as-yet-undiscovered syndrome.😮

I drove my parents crazy.

Is it an affliction? My entire life, I have gotten up early, never lie in bed, and promptly do the necessary daily chores. I write a list of targets every morning, and if they don't get done, I add them to tomorrow's list and always catch up. I write a daily journal, or maybe I could call it a blog, that I send to all my family each week. My brain is always bristling with new ideas to which I must give more time. That probably explains why I love to make model planes, Chinese furniture, Mechanical clocks and wooden knickknacks. Plus, I listen to my favourite music all day, which can be anything from AC/DC to Chamber classics. I need the harmony.

Exercise? I only ever found one that worked for me. Before my heart began to give me serious problems, I used to go out every morning at 4 AM and bike 20 to 30 kilometres every day, sun or rain. Happily, I'm much better health-wise now, and after having my leg angioplasty operation in early February, I can tell you that the lovely carbon bike is coming out again! Sheet on a shiny shovel! I designed the thing, and it works really well and is such a pleasure to ride so having it dormant in its rack is torture. ☹️

Maybe I'm overactive—my brain certainly is—Crikey, it took me twenty-five years to learn how to relax my muscles enough to go to sleep. Working on something with an end result is truly love labour for me. It could be cleaning the patio or designing a racing model - both give me mental rewards.

But I tell myself that if I'm overactive it's always with purpose, and if I didn't do all this stuff that makes me happy, as I'm retired (officially), I'd have nothing to do. And I know that's not good for a 72-year-old with the active mind of a teenager. 😈

Hyper Doc.

Hyper Doc.
Yeah Doc, most of my life I've been like that, but then there are certain set-backs or something that happens emotionally and then it gets more difficult to be that guy that is hard-charging all the time. My nature is pretty hyper active, but lately I almost hope it rains so that I can just hang with my dog without feeling too guilty about accomplishing all that much. In my best days the rain would mean that I would start building my Royal Models glider that Wayne sent me, but on my worst I'm just cool trolling a scammer on this forum for a while.

Like that video was talking about, it's momentum. I need to start spiraling upwards, as they say.

I can understand that Shoe, but I can't feel it. I think I'm the king of "Antsy" - though I have learned to hide it.

I hope I can get to that nice mellow stage - I'm always talking about it, but so far, no dice. 😝

Having a clean shop majorly affects my momentum.
Also anytime i have a major setback on a project, i can have a hard time getting going again. Probably why i have moved on to new projects so many times.

I think one thing that does help my momentum when its going is not worrying about things being overly perfect. I am more concerned now about how things look than i used to but still trying to not worry too much about that and just keeping going probably has helped. Since a lot of my stuff are one off scratch builds theres nobody to tell me im doing it wrong :)

I know one issue i have is i get really excited about something new before the thing im working on is even done, so i have been trying to have some self control and not start new things when i have 3 things on the bench still, but than its hard to get that momentum going again on those old projects after a break.

I find that even if i dont have time or feel like working on my current project, just going out and putting tools away and sweeping up and help a lot the next time i go to the shop to work.

A clean shop is inspiring to me. I have many times walked out to a fresh clean shop after finishing something else and it makes me want to do something. The creative juices start flowing and who knows what you end up with.

I find that I complete a repair project , but the "atmospheric" flying conditions are not fine , so I put it aside in the attic .
Then , I get a new , super exciting project to work on , and forget about the completed one.

I have a few ready to fly models which have never been through their maiden flights ...

Ha, and I have a few of Nate's old projects kicking around here. LOL

I have a lot of projects around here. I like to mix things up a bit and bounce around from project to project. Maybe not the best solution, but keeps things fresh in my mind. Especially when I get set back on a project, I can do some mindless thing like washing a car or gardening and let my mind chew away on the problem. The worse thing I can do is sit at a computer or in front of the idiot box (my dad's name for the TV)... I have a weakness for the idiot box at night.

It seems to be a bit harder to keep my shop space organized with so many people in my space. :( I do need to clean out the garage.. Momentum always seems to fade on that project. LOL

ok - Back to the camp - sort of - Got the test wing going together for the Ridge Runt and all is looking good. Might have a plane built this week.

It works for me, too, even though I am pretty tidy and have 'semi-cleanups' after each session—like putting primary tools away and sweeping the floor or maybe giving any bench-standing machine that I have used a quick going over with the ShopVac.

The same applies when I am doing design drawings. Using your workbench as a drawing board is a good incentive to keep it clean!

The Forensic shop vacuum cleaner cleanup happens when the toy is built and sitting on my (clean) workbench.:)

But Nate, with the amount of styrene you use in your normally pretty large projects, you must have become an expert on light white statically charged dust control. I rarely use styrene, but I do use cores in my studio process developments, and they get chamfered more often than not, producing dust. Do you have any secrets to share?

Cheers,

Doc.

Hope everyone had great holidays! I have been absent for a while but I am starting to get back into flying as time permits. Got an Ahi for Christmas so I have been building that over the last week or so and next on my list is the Forza which I hope to have done by Sunset. :)
Ha... Has the ability to build REALLY nice planes... Been building an Ahi, "over the last week." That's some funny shit, Jeremy! That's a 30 minute build. When the wind starts behaving we gotta meet back up at Tick and get those Jesters in the sky.

Yea... Its been difficult to find time lately so its been in 5-10 min stints while the kiddo is taking a bath or reading books and such. The decals Im doing are taking longer than the actual build (to much of a perfectionist) so that is adding some time... 🤪

Sadly I havent flow the Jester again since the maiden with you at Tick. Would love to get it up and really see what it can do.

Ha. Yeah, the graphics are what takes the longest on the Ahi by far. Couple things: If you have something to reinforce the tail I recommend it... Maybe a carbon rod, something like that, it's the weakest link. Also, I really like the colored tape that Dream-Flight offers and it looks good and works great to protect the leading edge of the wing. It's a really fun plane, I think you're gonna love it.
