sorry if Im woefully ignorant, but its hard to find instruction on how to add a small live feed camera to a glider. The closest I found is this:
5.8GHz Mini 3" FPV Monitor with Micro 25mW Camera Transmitter Combo.

I assume I can plug the camera into a frsky receiver for power?

are there frsky receiver or controller modules I can use instead to transmit the video?

any push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

OK- So if I understand this correctly you are wanting to add an FPV system to a glider. FPV = First Person View

There are many systems out there, and prices range from very low to very high. The basics of most of these are all about the same.

You will have the following in the plane:
  • Camera
  • Video Transmiter
And the following on the ground
  • Video Receiver
  • Display or goggles to view the video
These will typically have very little or nothing to do with your existing RC system.

There are 2 basic options for video transmission methods Analog or Digital. There is much debate as to what is better of these, but it really is simple if you break it down this way. Analog can be the cheapest entry into FPV, but the quality especially for the cheap versions will be pretty poor. Digital is FAR better picture quality but also at a much higher price. There really is no cheap option for digital.

FPV is almost a hobby onto itself in terms of possible options and complexity.

I'd do a little research on the digital options and see if they fall in your price comfort range. The 2 top systems are from DGI (best picture quality) and HDZero (better price). These are pretty well sorted out systems that should put a smile on your face.

If the digital is more than you would like to spend at this time, then by all means start off with a cheaper analog system, but know the picture quality will be much closer to a TV from the 70's with rabbit ear antennas on the top of the TV. Can be a lot of "snow" and issues with the picture, and picture detail will be very low. Also, the VERY cheap systems tend to burn out randomly over time, not good if you value your airplane.

I suggest you start off with a plane you are not highly attached to.

thanks, confirms what I found, but you describe it succinctly and in one place.- the purpose was actually to have a backup if one looses visual on a thermal plane, allowing one to hopefully navigate back to a point where one can regain visual.
 
That is an intersting idea..

Might I suggest a "return to home" flight controller? There are some out there that should be able to keep your glider in the area, they do require the use of a GPS antenna. Most will circle the "home" location you have set until you take control back. You might have it deploy spoilers if you have them.

With that said, I like the video idea for this application too. :)
 
There are very small cameras and vtx . You should never power them by the receiver as it can and will cause a brown out ,, Ask me how I know . You can run a y cable from your flight battery tho . You can use a video monitor or goggles .
