CAD Files

Hi Guys,
I’m new to this forum and hoping someone can help me.
A little about myself…… I’m from Australia and currently live and work on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. I’ve been doing this RC hobby from about the age of 13, introduced my two sons to the hobby and then stopped doing it for about 20 years as life and work somehow got is the way. I’ve just started it again, purchased a 3d printer and am ready to go again. A totally different ball game now being able to print models and parts. So much looking forward to flying again. The slopes here in Lombok are amazing and all ocean facing.
I’ve downloaded the Nexus 900 3d print files. I’ve started to print the components of the glider but would like to make some modifications. However stp files are not easily modified.
I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me where I can download the 3d CAD files from. I’ve searched everywhere on the net with no luck. My last resort would be to print the model, measure it up and create the 3d cad files myself but this is a slow process. I use Autodesk Inventor for design software. This software I’m familiar with as I used it doing my job before I retired.
It would be great if someone out there could help me.
Thanks 🙏

I am also an Australian, great you are able to get back into the RC hobby. I use Ultimaker Cura as my slicer, its free to download. If you google stp to dxf file converter there are plenty of free software to down load this converter.

Your next purchase is a Laser cutter, I use this all the time and is a great tool for RC modeling.

There is also a web sight called "Thingiverse" for plenty of other peoples designs.

That little Nexsus is fun and does fly, but is pretty fragile. Probably not going to find the CAD for it.

Hi all and thanks for replying
I’m about 90 % complete with the redesign. I’ve introduced a 8mm dia Carbon Fibre tube down the center of the fuselage. The fuse consists of only two parts now rather than 4. I will be attempting this with the wings also. The concern I have is rigidity when printing the longer wing sections in the vertical condition. Any ideas out there??
My goal is to have the full glider fit on the heat bed. Go to bed at night….. wake up in the morning…… glider ready. My printer is the Bambulab X1. As PLA just doesn’t cut in the tropics I’m using ASA filament.

As I recall the wing strength was fine, but the fuselage was weak. So your mod should be a step in the right direction. The 8mm might be on the HUGE side for this little model. You might be better off with something like a 1mm rod that slides in on each side. This is similar to what Plane Print does on their 2 meter Rise and that works really well.

Bambu just came out with a new PETG formula that might be the sweet spot for you.
