Bringing back MOM racing!

In my prior post I typed " the Midwest Slope Challenge has 4 up as well as 1:1 racing ". And also " Almost every 1:1 race was lost by dumb thumbing "

Person on Person doesn't make me think of racing. If someone doesn't like 1:1 then how about One on One, as in "ooo racing".

I like those and don't I don't feel strongly about "PoP".

I'm new to this and all of these different race categories are over my head. My understanding is that the particular race that this thread is for isn't 1:1 - on the slope were talking about the race start with a handful of planes in the air. I get that this is all about having fun and some things aren't super well defined. All good, I'm game for whatever. I'm just throwing it out there that at some point the "Man on Man" branding could be reconsidered.

No it must be MOM!

Just kidding. I never loved the MOM name either, but was a fun excuse for a silly image.

Oh here are a couple from AI:
Great Launched Insane Descent Experiment aka: GLIDE
Speedy Lunatics Inclined Downward Events aka: SLIDE
Multi Person Descent Derby aka: MPDD

We use to race a plane called "Speedo" I think you understand the humor from that one.

The phrase “man on man” has never been about gender, regardless of what activity it’s used in, and it’s used a lot, simply signifying one huMAN competing directly against one other huMAN. Let’s keep gender out of our hobby, please. If you absolutely have to use a different phrase, then go with one of the alternatives already widely used: one on one, head to head, etc.

I kinda hate to be doing this, but food for thought: "MoM" -> "PoP" (Person on Person.)

Between me wanting my daughter to be interested and my wife making a comment to me about "only dudes showing up" to fly, I realized the "Man on Man" name seems a bit exclusionary and dated.
i thought the original image was fun...

And as far as acronyms go, you can call it mano 'o mano racing... hand to hand... close enough.

As far as I know we strongly encourage everybody to join our hobby! Unfortunately it seems very few of the ladies have an interest in it for whatever reason. (no judgement) Would love it if more would attend events like Sunset. As long as I can remember only Wayne, Chris, Red, Rafael, Gary, Jeremy(s), Kyle and maybe a few others have been able to convince their significant other to come. We love it when it's not "only dudes showing up". Lol

LOL - Male magnets. I remember a long time ago we made some cool "chopper" style bikes and took them down to the beach to cruise. Dang, it had the wrong effect, we got circled by guys and the ladies could care less. We sold the bikes off after a couple of more outings that all had the same result.
