Bricked X9D Plus need help!

Long story short,
I have 2 x9d's, classic x9d and also a plus. these would be pre 19. I managed to get classic x9d updated to to current firmware. I had a stupid moment an accidently bricked my plus by trying to load classic firmware. Current version on my plus is 2.1.6 and no matter what firmware I attempt to load it says "Firmware not compatible with current Firmware" I am at a loss on what to do. Thanks for any input on what to do

As im trying to download firmware to radio the file starts to download, gets to 6% and the files folders F file an E file go away an i loose connection to radio

At a guess from the description, it sounds like the USB connection itself. Try a different cable. They do go bad, and may only show it in certain situations yet appear fine in others. Anker or Monoprice usually are pretty good. You could also try using a different USB port on the PC. May possibly be the SD card giving issues. At minimum, copy all files to your PC, using an external card reader. Reformat it, and copy the files back (including the new firmware file). If one or more files are bad on the card, it may still give fits after you copy them back...but is something to try before running out to buy a new card and the process of redownloading new files from the net, etc.

I would say load the firmware with the X9D Plus with the power on the radio off. You have most likely corrupted the boot loader and it thinks its an older radio. Flashing with power off will replace the boot loader with the correct version.

Both good suggestions, but for sure do the firmware with the radio turned off.

Good news is you can't brick them.

Thanks for all the input. Cable was the issue. Only issue I know have on both radios is I do not have the “setup wizard” on the radio. I did select setup wizard when making profile on companion. Greatly appreciate the advise

There is a script for the wizard you will need to copy to your SD card. Did you update the SD card contents? If not, you should do that too.
