Binding an RX8R?

Larry Fitch

New User
Folks, I have an old X12S transmitter running FrOS. It is bound to an X8R receiver in my 1/4 scale Hall Cherokee glider. It is not a reliable receiver, and would like to replace it with the subject RX8R receiver. I've tried binding the RX8R several times, and can't get it to take. Can anyone tell me what is needed to bind this new receiver to my old transmitter? I have been setting the transmitter to Bind, 1-8 with telemetry, and the receiver number for the glider is "14". Not sure how to proceed, as I've never replaced a receiver in a setup airplane before.

Thanks,
Larry Fitch

I am not directly familiar with the X12S transmitter, but it may be due to the incompatibility of the RF module firmware with the receiver firmware.
your transmitter may have old 1.x firmware which will not make possible to bind the new receiver , v2.x may be needed.

If the X12S is running Fros I don't believe any updates have been installed. The X8R will be on the V1 receiver firmware version, the RX8R can run the UNI-RX firmware which will allow binding to this very old TX firmware versions.

Yep, Install UNI onto the new receiver and you should be golden. You can find UNI here:
