Best firmware and method to repurpose FRSKY TH9X with ACCST module and D4R-II rcvr for BOT???

Hello...I recently bought a used Bird of Time. I have a old TH9X with ACCST module and D4R-II receiver that I was using with an old 3D Robotics octocopter drone. The TH9X has custom firmware installed from 3D robotics.

My question is if somone can point me to which firmware I should use with this glider and where to find full instructions how to reflash and then setup for Bird of Time with 2 servos and future electric motor. I may also want to add a variometer/climb indicator. I know I have to purchase a USB adapter to do the f/w reflash but thats about all i know. And i know there is OpenTX firmware and some other firmware available but thats all I know. So I just need someone to point me in the right direction and where to find the best instructions. Many thanks!! New to this forum and am getting back into rc gliders after many years. Thx Lorenzo

Well, I'd suggest you just use it as is. The DJT and the D4R-II should work just fine with one another.

The radio is very old at this point and no idea what the custom firmware they installed may or may not be. It is probably ErskyTX with a flash screen for the company. It should be able to guide the glider around just fine.

It could be useful to work out what the custom firmware actually is, likely er9x or open9x. Try navigating through any menus to find a "Version" information screen.
Regarding flashing the 9x, links to how to flash a 9x are here: https://github.com/MikeBland/mbtx
