Seems most people run into this issue when loading ballast into the tube. Letting slugs slam into the tube should be avoided.

A little bit of foam padding would completely eliminate that problem. Its what I use at the open end anyway.
Should have figured that out a long time ago...just need the tube setting back by a padding thickness.
