Archer RS firmware update bricked!

Strange thing happened to me today with 2 brand new Archer RS receivers. Hooked one up, registered, bind no problems. I then dutifully did the OTA firmware upgrade 2.18 from 2.12 via my X20. Progress bar got to about 25% and then it said SUCCESS! I clicked close. Rx light just kept flashing. Turned off the rx and then it seemed bricked. No lights or anything. Tried another RS with exact same results. I’ve updated a few of these before ota with no issues. I’m afraid to try flashing any other receivers.

First pic shows the original update that “completed” at 25%. This was my second RX to have this happen. Any ideas????

Follow up....

I’m happy to report that after about 60-80 attempts (not exaggerating) to flash via S.port my bricked Archer RS’s with varying percentage complete levels one finally made to 100%. I registered and bound it and seemed normal. Since the initial problem happened on OTA update I decided to try the S.port to get the latest version on it because I think it was an older version that worked by fluke. It crapped out again mid way through and bricked it again. BUT I knew there was hope! This morning a started a fresh session of s.port flashing and after only 5 or so attempts I got it back with the latest version. Works fine now. Then I started on my second bricked unit and got it back after 10 or so attempts. So these units will be relegated to redundancy duties and won’t ever be alone on a model. Also will not attempt OTA flash on my other 6 NIB RS’s awaiting install. I’ll stick with s.port updating. Very strange considering I’ve been using OTA updating since I got my x20 without any problems on all kinds of receivers. Only thing that has changed has been my Ethos version. Not blaming Ethos but just stating. Maybe it’s a bad batch of receivers? ‍♂️ Either way it’s been a good morning.

Don’t give up on bricked receivers. Just keep trying as long as the download progresses a bit

Glad you got her working.. We pretty much always use S.port for our flashing and seems to work most every time, we occasionally have an issue. We have received a few units from customers that were bricked and regardless of what we tried we could not get them to take a firmware, but that is pretty darn rare.
