By the time the X10 Express came along, FrSky had a large inventory of the X12S that were not selling. Those are the same radios they are still trying to unload. We stopped offering them when the X18 came along as it was SOOOO much better! To this day I am not aware of a weakness in the X18 family. The early X20 tend to break handles, and that is about it on that one. Since the release of the X20 and X18, FrSky radios have been pretty darn rock solid!
Some people really like the X9D and how long they last, and when they do have an issue it is usually easy to fix. But the Tandem and Twin radios are near perfect, and then you add in the Ethos system, really don't know why someone would look at something else.
We have been selling Frsky radios since before they offered a transmitter. We have seen it all. We have seen the industry pivot due to the improvements that FrSky brought to market. It has been a long time, but regardless of the brand you buy now, all radios had to get better to compete. (Though I have seen one major brand go backwards recently, Spektrum. Not sure what they are thinking.)
