Another newb dumb question.

Sorry, but as I keep reading various forums on ethos, as well as a couple of folks how to info on it, things pop into my head that, if I had the transmitter in front of me might be self explanatory or not..(ahem ,Wayne....joking...I know as soon as they popped back up in stock y'all probably got hammered with orders, seriously)
So, I've ordered an SR10, mainly because I'm a gizmo nut and wanted the maximum capability, even if I wasn't sure I would use it...but just in case..

So here goes: The Archer SR's have built in gyroscopes...in effect I'm thinking it's possible to have a similar effect as a smoothflite system. I also assume that that stabilization occurs over all control surface channels, possibly all channels with a servo, correct?
That being said, In ethos, can that stabilization be tied to a switch on the transmitter so it can be enabled and disabled? If so, do I then lose a channel to it on the SR10 leaving 9 usable channels or did I miss something somewhere?
What I'm thinking is the take off climb out and landing approach, stabilizing that part of each flight, but not wanting the stabilization during the whole flight...if that makes sense....
 
Archer receivers have 16/24 channel capability, 10 channels have PWM outputs. (PWM being what a servo needs) So that leaves a number of channels while not having a PWM output can be used to control functions with-in the receiver such as gain, or stabilizing on/off etc. So you don't loose channels, the receiver uses channels not normally available. The Sbus output has all the channels encoded onto a serial stream so if you were to add an Sbus decoder you could recover and use additional channels if you needed to have this capability. From memory the SR10 uses channels 9,10 and 12 for internal mode changes.

Henny is right. On the SR10 you could have channels 1-8, 11, and 13 mapped to the ten servo outputs, while channels 9, 10, and 12 are used internally by the receiver. So, in total you would in that case be using 13 channels (assuming you plug in something to all 10 PWM outputs of the receiver). One could argue now that these three channels used internally for stabilization purposes are "taken away" from the 16/24 channels you have in total, but I don't think that is a problem in real life.

For the what is stabilized, that is more limited. The basic flight channels for roll, yaw and pitch are stabilized and need to be plugged in the correct channels on the receiver. In other words, the extra channels are just channels, they will not be stabilized. For example, flaps or landing gear channels will function as normal RC channels. Hope that makes sense.
