Aloft Web Site

What a shocker. With such a solid statement from the technical crew, I mean, they did use the qualifier of "appears"

here is a screen shot of what I get 'most' of the time today (saved as .pdf) if I press the RELOAD button it reloads correctly - most of the time..

Yeah. I just sent them another love letter. This time to billing. My hope being that it might land on someone else's desk that can get this resolved. Doubtful..

I hadn't noticed any issues until I noticed this thread.

It is odd, from what I can tell it isn't timing out, just a pretty quick response to the message above.

My guess is a misconfigured load balancer/server pool.

Funny thing is when it is working it is FAST. Well, faster than it normally is.

This is on a shared server to keep expenses reasonable. It has worked well for us. But they keep telling me some other site on the server is being targeted with DDOS. Since they have not been able to get that sorted out in 2 weeks, I don't understand why they are making the other customers on the server suffer. Either figure it out or kick that guy off the server.

I'm clearly not an expert in this at all, but I thought DDOS was pretty much a non-issue these days? Thought they had many ways to reduce or eliminate the impact of them.

Trust me, if I thought I could move to another server without a total mess on my hands I would have done it by now. This is simply not a strength for me. I have a lot of custom configuration at this point, and I know I will break things in the move. Just our DNS records alone give me a headache.

DDOS is still very much a thing, because it is cheap and easy. It is also pretty easy to detect and deflect. Tools such as Akamai are designed exactly for that. However, it is was a DDOS it would tend to slow everything down.

Yeah, this thing is so hit or miss. Yesterday was completely normal for me, today I'm getting the loading bars on the top right of the screen. And then occasionally I have to reload the entire site.

I could not get on the site last night, but so far they are doing good.

They tell me they were moving the offending site off my server. We shall see.
