ALOFT: Sig RISER-100 wing on Topmodel PRELUDE fuselage

G-man

Very Strong User
The quality of my first Topmodel PRELUDE project fuselage, plus the service and support from Aloft
impressed me so much that I ordered a complete PRELUDE kit; this time the PRELUDE REF (Rudder Elevator Flap) version.

The quality of the model was exquisite and I enjoyed flying it.

Unfortunately I dorked it pretty bad and figured I couldn't repair the tapered CF tube spar without a huge weight penalty,
so I decided to build my own replacement wing for this beautiful fuselage, which was still in near 100% shape.

Since I already had the PRELUDE fuselage with an OLYMPIC-II wing, I decided to compare and contrast with a Sig RISER-100 wing.
I found the RISER-100 wing quicker and simpler to build, and their flight performance nearly indistinguishable from each other.

There is another sad ending at this point; I lost that plane in a flyaway, flying the limit of my vision in the Canadian wildfire smoke and haze.

Stage three is a winter build project for at least three guys (so far) - order Topmodel PRELUDE fuselages and tail parts from Aloft,
and build Sig RISER-100 wings to have beautiful-looking, lazy-day floater electric sailplanes next spring.

I'll link to that build thread when it gets underway.

Here are two links to related material.
1. Is the build thread for my second RISER-100 wing on a PRELUDE fuselage.
2. Is a wide ranging discussion on wooden wings on glass fuselages.
INCLUDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MODERN VERSION OF A CLASSIC STICK-BUILT WING BY ALOFT HOBBIES STAFF.
This allows Aloft Forum participants to follow the design process, and to have input into it.

1. BUILD THREAD: Sig RISER-100 wing on Topmodel PRELUDE fuselage

2. ALOFT: Airtronics OLYMPIC-II wing on Topmodel PRELUDE fuselage
