Airtronics Vision 8sp

if the module in the back is removable, it is a snap (literally). you take out the 72 and put in the 2.4. the module has to be made for the vision and, of course, the rx must be compatible with the module. when the rf board is not removable, there is Radio South that will replace it with a 2.4. i have heard good things about that business.

When I went to the AMA convention, I recall seeing a company that was making 2.4 modules for old Kraft radios and the like. The cool thing was that they maintained the original look of the radio, so other than the short antenna, they looked identical to the originals. It was neat and, took me back to a simpler time.
As soon as my buddy and I walked away from the booth, I asked, "why"? Why would I want to give up the enormous set of features I have available now?

LOL - There are a fair amount of folks that love the vintage planes and they want to have as much vintage gear as possible, but also do not want to risk their planes to the old electronics.

There are a few guys that will haul out 5 vintage radios as each is tied to s single plane, and they want to fly 5 planes. It is what we all used to do back in the day. LOL

I remember the first radios that came along that could support more than one model, they still had manual trims, so you had to re-trim each time you flew. Heck, we all had to re-trim as just handling our radios might bump those manual trims.

I think it is neat, but I very much like my X18.

I do have a vintage Heathkit here, and it still works fine! Anybody want it? Complete with instructions and all, in great shape.

It just looks 'right' to fly our old Aquila and other RES old planes on a equally old R/S Systems 3-Channel. IF you look closely you will see the 2.4 antenna under the fishing pole 🙃

Heathkit. That name takes me back. I couldn't afford a flanger for my guitar when I was around 15, so I bought a Heathkit. Somthing wasn't quite right and all I ended up with was less money to buy a pre-made one. :)

Thank you Ron. I checked with them, about $300-350. Sold the Vision moving on to a Frsky.
