Aeroic Toccata.

For Red - I’m very interested as to where the cg was positioned when you flew it (the prototype) at Sunset in the video, if that’s ok with you? We haven’t heard anything from you or Ryan about the Toccata for quite a while now. Have you got the only one in the USA?

Doc J - It might be a good idea to change the suggested cg in the manual to 110 as a starting point, with a mention it can be moved further back. 96 is really, really nose heavy. The FMT review cg is 113, just as mine is, and I’m going further back the next time the wind is suitable to fly. The model now has just a really mild tendency to pull out of a steep, very fast dive, but will not fly level at high speed as I want it to do like my other models.

Cheers all

Hi Jonty,

I'd have to measure to see where it is now, but we have moved it back a bit from where we started. I typically don't pay too much attention to the number, only to start. I fly until I like it then that's it. I want to say it was about 105mm or so in the vid though, probably 110+ now. Ryan raced it in the MoM races a couple weekends ago and won his heat, beating a couple of larger planes. We've let several other pilots fly it as well, all have good stuff to say.

Thanks for the input, guys.

It's sometimes hard to know what to do here. This is not a beginner's model, and I try hard to let people know this and yet I still have to cater for beginners buying and flying it. The other problem is that, as we know all too well, each flyer has a different setup. I'll take a look at the manual.

Hi Doc and Red,
I’ve just had a look at the manual, and the suggested CG and the measurement for the ballast tube centre position have yet to be updated. I’m not whingeing here, just trying to help everybody out.

Cheers

I’ve been waiting for the stars to align heralding the announcement of a Toccata with a 2.5 metre wing.

Now, a 2.5m span version (complete with wing ballast boxes as per the original Toccata drawings on here) would be an absolute beast in terms of outright speed and energy retention, plus even more efficient.

Your thoughts Doc?

Cheers
