Amazing - I'd have thought the Hawiian Islands were stuffed with places to fly. Maybe its like Taiwan - loadsa of great places to fly...landing? Not so much.

Exactly! Actually there are tons of great places to fly and land if you have connections, are local and or related. One of the guys we met at Sunset this year (drives a Grey Mercedes Sprinter was parked by Aloft crew and Marrick) was able to fly in Maui a few years back through some people he knows or something. He said it was the most epic flying he's ever done. So the spots are definitely there just not for me...
I was in Maui 2 weeks after Sunset and managed to bring 4 planes with me between my luggage and carry-on. It's pretty easy to take them since we fly the local commuter flights that are like 45 minutes long. 10 seater planes. as we were walking to the terminal from the plane the pilot came over to look at the Ahi and talk about flying on the island. Winds were non existent at the main place I was going to fly. We went there like 3 times over the course of the week. anemometer said 2-3 mph. but also had light rain at the same time. No Bueno. then we found several other supposed great spots that are now off limits. Definitely a bummer. Still.. we were in Maui so not much of a loss.

I have the cg set to 99mm. It's slightly nose heavy but I'll probably leave it. Energy retention isn't bad. I think it's better with reflex and I didn't use it there. I still want to set up snap flap when reflexed for the next flight.

Sessanta will fly in the next day or 2. It's being put together with a very high pitch prop so we should see a bit of speed!

Got out early to test fly Sessanta. It flies really nice! After a couple tuning flights I thought I'd better see if my GPS fits in it. Sure does! I did a quick couple of laps cross wind so I wouldn't get much help. I didn't dive, that 423 was after when I went around to land.

Yeah its a little whizzer, that one. Most small models look fast, but the Sessanta actually IS fast.

Happy to hear it went well.

Cheers,

We're working on a very scary setup for this plane, how much room is there inside the fuselage? Also what is the diameter of your spinner, so I can know how big of a motor we can cram in there?

Sorry for the delay. Been heads down building a prop for a Mitchell B-10 ultralight.

There's quite a a bit of room for more battery but you may need to balance a heavier battery with weight in the tail. The 4s 1800 Pulse battery I used fits with room to spare under the leading edge of the wing. The stock spinner size is 32mm if I remember correctly. I cut it back a bit to fit a 38mm because that's what I had on hand and it also allowed me to install the motor from the front.

If I find the time, I will rewind one of the spare motors I have to see if we can get a bit more speed.

Hi Guys - what we have done is to beef up the rear of the model with more glass layers, which will also shift the basic balance point back whilst making the fuselage stronger. No need to modify the spinner position aft to bring it back.

More room for motor though lol ;)

Having flown the glider version I'd imagine it can go a good bit faster without issue. But electrics are hard to get enough power into the fuselage.

Video looks really good!

Hi everyone I am liking this plane
