Aeroic Alpenbrise 4M build

Hi Justin - glad to be of service!

I'm happy you like this model. It's Red and I think Ryan's favourite too.

Announcement:
Watch this space, no doubt Red told you - but for all who happen to read this, there is an A195 (5m) version coming soon.

A bit of history: 195" or 5M was the wingspan for which the Alpenbrise was designed.

Here, please let me hijack your post a little with new info::LOL:

I made the smaller 157"(4m) version to get the model out there and on the slopes and into the mountains in Europe, as shelling out for an unknown (at the time) 5M model might have caused some to be cautious. That seemed to have worked well, and all seem impressed with the model's performance, so now we will soon see the original design. Red, as the Aeroic official test pilot, will be testing the new plane as soon as we can get parts to him.

Introducing the Alpenbrise A195 (5M)

The wings will be 4-piece 6 servo type, easily transportable, and so the soaring possibilities for the larger plane are perhaps more than the smaller version, if you like GPS or high Alpine flying. Just for those who are wondering, the wings have a double sine wave spar and are joined by massive, UHM carbon wing joiners.

Oh and of course, this baby would be pretty impressive on the slopes, too!

Fun is the watchword!

Really looking forward to this!

Announcement:

Hi All, I'm honoured to announce that Justin Hall is now officially a member of the Aeroic Composites Technical Team.

You'll see Justin flying Aeroic models from time to time with the other Aeroic Tech teammates, Red and Rayan Jensen.

Ask him for a stir on the sticks - he'll be glad to oblige.:)

I have to say I'm really happy with this new development - watch out for 3 (or more) up Alpenbrise formation flying!

Cheers,

Doc.

Wow! I’m honored to be part of the team and excited of what’s to come. Red, Ryan and I have some plans 😎 I would be happy to hand over the transmitter to give others a pull on the Alpenbrise but be careful…once you fly it you’ll want one. The moment I flew Reds the first time I knew I’d have one at some point!

I was able to get some more time in with the Alpenbrise yesterday. Red, Ryno and I headed up the Grass Mountain and the wind was ripping. This is the first time I've had it in bigger wind and I was not disappointed. I really cant get over how good this plane is, It is surprisingly nimble for a large plane. After the initial flights at Torrey, I moved the CG back further, tuned the setup a bit more and the big girl seemed to like the changes. As always, looking forward to more time in the air with it!

How was Grass Mtn? Glad you got her in some good air and getting more and more in the groove with her.

It was booming yesterday. I did some F3f practice with the Spada and Ryan was ripping it up with the Tocatta. The lift was amazing for a while, but as the day went the wind shifted direction and the air got rowdy. Still plenty of lift but on the lip you could get tossed, so you just had to fly further out. Still a great day. Ask Justin about the crack rolls with his Snipe :ROFLMAO:

I just finished an Alpenbrise for my buddy Mike W and test flew it Sunday. Really nice flying airplane! We had pretty good conditions at Los Banos so I was able to do lots of rolls, huge loops and hammer heads with long high vertical lines. The rudder is tight and pretty powerful so those were really fun!

I just read Konrad's thread on another forum. Most of his complaints didn't jive with my experience. The only thing I'd like to see is the aileron servo pocket moved inboard an inch or 2. I did manage to fit 10mm TLS RS-10 with the bearing support but it's a very tight fit. I went with 4 servos in the wing -all RS-10. The rudder linkage works fine where it is btw. I used all Tomas Liu hardware and everything is tight.

I ended up using 2x 2s 21700 4000mah with a Fromeco Wolverine switch that gives it redundancy. Should fly all weekend on those batteries! Can't wait to fly it again. Next time we'll get some pics too.

"I just read Konrad's thread on another forum. Most of his complaints didn't jive with my experience."

If that was the UK RCM&E forum, Steve, it's just the usual Konrad assassination attempt - this time on the Alpenbrise. I got a lot of messages and emails about it, but I didn't comment on the thread as I have seen what can happen once you engage, and in any case, I thought the Brits would have more sense than to take much notice - I was right. He's been removed from this forum, like most of the others now. Not sure where he's posting these days, but he's running out of options.

I'm afraid I have a target on my back, as Konrad does this with all of my models, and pretty much only my models - yet he keeps buying them. ;)

Honestly, I have no idea why he does this. In person, he always seems a nice guy, but behind that computer screen, he's a would-be serial killer - for my models.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Aeromodelling - especially glider flying - should be fun, not a lot of time and energy wasted trying to denigrate other modellers and upsetting people.

Cheers, and here's to a quiet but fun-filled life!:cool::cool:

Hi Guys - new Alpenbrise A157 video:

Here Iain Medley-Rose is flying hs Alpi in a late summer light wind afternoon session in England's green and pleasant land when he met a buzzard (I think) while thermallng.

The "Rapture with a Raptor" part is a bit high but the main parts of the video aerobatics are lovely to watch.

This model was the second one out of the moulds by the way.:cool:

Just as a bit of an aside, Iain will be flying two of my A195 (5M) models in GPS Sport class in Europe next year. I hope he does well!
