Aeroic Alpenbrise 4M build

I forgot another reason... When landing something that a little more expensive your hands just might shake a little (unless your name is Alex and you are flying someone else's plane... )

The beauty of an Ahi with thick colored tape on the leading edges is a nice damage free nose-into-the-brush landing. I’m sure that will be my Sunset go-to.

I’m getting there on Wednesday so I’ll get some practice before the throngs of people show up so that I can create the illusion that I know what I’m doing. Don’t blow my cover, guys. Just point to me and say, “that Shoelace guy sure knows what he’s doing.”

Ahi at Sunset? Never been done before!

Ahi's can land anywhere at Sunset, they are super easy. Pretty much any flying wing or Ahi can land anywhere they like without much trouble.
Yep... Not too worried about that one... But I am gonna bring my Jester and hopefully figure that one out on Wednesday. It's fairly indestructible but people are not, so remember, when people are diving out of the way, point to me and say, "that Shoelace guy sure knows what he's doing."

The ahi has an impressive range of wind it can fly in without ballast
Yeah, Dream Flight did an amazing job with that thing. Goes together in around an hour tops, you only need Blenderm tape, if you get the flight pack everything fits perfectly, and it's a blast to fly. It's super cool.

i havent hit anyone yet but i did crunch somebodies plane on landing.
Here in Taiwan a while ago I was flying a 3M plane over some elephant grass - the stuff is 6~8 feet tall so you'd think you could pile into it anyhow you liked - which is normally true.

So this time I come around in a pretty fast approach intending to dump the model into the grass wall. Just as I plonked it dowen...I heard a loud and expensive CRAAAACKKKK!

Wading into the grass to retrieve the model I saw that some kind person had dumped a very stout wood table about 10-feet in where it was invisible. Nose broke off the model but it was an easy fix.

Next time I went up there I saw that some enterprising campers - I guess - had dragged it out and dismembered it for BBQ fire fuel.

Ashes to ashes...

Cheers,

Doc.

Got the AB out again yesterday in some challenging conditions. The more I fly it the better it becomes. I had adjusted the CG, mixing throws etc. and I'm happy with all the changes. Ryan flew it and I had to force him to give the Tx back lol. We got some Spada time too. All in all a good day.

Wow! The wind gods finally awaken! What Red didnt mention is that they were a bit off direction and very fickle that day. Challenging.

Good to see Ryan got a stir on the Spada AND the (Mighty) Alpenbrise despite the wavy winds.:cool:

Thats going to stand him in good stead for the Typhoon MKII Toccatta which will be shipped next week, and that, ladies and gents, will be a thoroughly fast and slippery little customer for him to master.

Sitting here in Taiwan, flightless and jealous as usual.🤨

Nevermind! Its good to see the models in the air.

Top secret!

Its a long way down from NorCal but fr thse of you further down south, Red and Ryan will be at Torrey tomorrow - armed and dangerous with Alpenbrise and Spada models - want to try?

Remember - I didnt tell you this...:D

Looks like Torrey Pines was THE place to be. 15Mph winds drectly onshore.

Red and Ryan flew the Spada and Alpenbrise with no ballast (as it hadnt arrived by that time) but the planes sure gave account of themselves. Even better, a few local piots there had the chance for a fly of the Spada - all said good things aparently.

Looks like a great day.

Great lift at Torrey Pines today. Blowing 15+ and straight in, can’t ask for anything better. Passed the Spada around to half a dozen pilots, all had great things to say. The AB was ripping it up as well.

I think Ryan is getting a lot out of these planes too. Red told me he almost has to prise the tranmitters aways from him if its the Spada or the Alpenbrise.

But thats exactly what its all about! Fun fun fun, and whats better than father/son fun?:LOL::ROFLMAO:.
