56" Gentle Lady Evo - Major project creep

That looks really nice. The motor spinner is very clever. I have heard that they exist, but have never used one.

We are developing a range of these spinners. There have been a few on the market, but they typically had very high price points as they were intended for high end composite models. We have studied a number of motors and have decided on some units for their exceptional performance due to some more advanced materials. More on those soon.

Snuck some more time. Here is the fuselage coming together. I would have it done but I spotted an error earlier and had to restart the fuselage design. Sometimes it is the simple things. Well, good practice I suppose. The main bulkhead is not finished here. I need to route the pushrods before I finish it out.

I may add a little battery tray so the speed control can sit under the battery, think there is enough space.

Receiver will sit behind the servos, and battery to esc wires in front of servos.

The motor mount is a new structure. Here it is with a little more detail:

It may look big and heavy, but it is tiny and weighs next to nothing, and is very strong. (already have a test print) Large holes are for cooling and passing motor wires. The wood is comprised of 3 doughnuts that simply slide on and get glued in place. Really pleased how this turned out. Looking forward to the test builds.

Got some more progress on the fuselage. (Triangle stock not shown)

Think it is down to the canopy and some little stuff. Decided to pass on the battery tray. Anything I'd design in would probably only work for a few setups. It is a rather small space.

For the first time … I think you have done it son 😇

Beautiful glider Wayne, I’m going to add spoilers to mine. Hot-dammm that’s a fine-looking glider 👍👍

Just a few questions on Alofts new glider projects:
The Lele and Gentle Lady Evo seem very similar. Do you still plan to bring both to market?
I was reading the thread on the AH-100. When the project started it seemed to be an updated wing for the Prelude fuselage. What made you decide to do a dedicated fuselage for it? Also any updates on that glider?

Project updates:

AH-100 is in Beta build phase. The first Beta just flew this week in New York and Dave reports he loves the handling and floating nature. He has been flying a lot of other wings the same span with the same fuselage and sounds like he likes the performance for the AH-100 over the others. We did run into some issues during the build, so we are doing some small refinements and some cold weather testing.

The AH-100 with a Prelude fuselage forces the pilot to use a rather large amount of nose weight. The wood fuselage will not have this issue. The next Beta build will be local and think it will be the wood fuselage. I suspect we will see AUW drop about 1/3 of the total of the Prelude. It will also use one of our motor in a spinners if we can get the larger motor done in a reasnoable time.

Gentle Lady is in Prototype and the rest of the parts should be kicking out of the laser today. So far it has been going very well. The Gentle Lady has been a fun project, and a key focus was improved performance but EASY to build and a lot of attention to appearance. She is designed to be covered in translucent covering. :)

Le Le is a very different wing and a little more span compared with the Gentle Lady. The Le Le should be lighter and a little higher performance. The first Prototype of the Le Le did indeed show great handling and excellent thermal flight. We were very pleased with it, but it can be even better now that we have our new motors in a spinner, so the fuselage will be redesigned to take advantage of that. This will give the fuselage a MUCH smaller cross section.

The motors in a spinner are being refined and tested. We now have them for 3 different motors that give a range of performance. We are waiting for some blades to arrive to design our 4th version. With the 4 models that will cover from about 24" to 120" wing spans.

We also have an Oldtimer wing designed, built and flown, it will probably share it's fuselage with the Gentle Lady to a large degree.

We have the Woody Stick in design phase. This is a wood version of the Silly Stick design.

And there are a few others slowly progressing or fully stalled. LOL

I've also decided to switch to a new CAD package, so some skills need to be acquired before I jump into a new design.

Thanks for the info.

I know we have a lot of projects going.. We are focusing on clearing out the finished designs before we jump into more.
