awesome. I have been getting back into fpv and i didnt realize how much stuff was 3d printed now. I mainly wanted that directdrive for tpu and flexible materials. One thing i also really want to do is to make 2 part molds out of 3d prints for doing fiberglass wings. RamyRC style, but slope planes. Our Prusa Mks3+ just arrived in a kit form about 5 minutes ago! My older son told me it will be assembled by the time I get home![]()
dont forget to slice it with curabeen following the thread, pretty cool. I ordered a Prusa Mks3+ and super excited to get printing a plane when it comes.
I love prusa slicer for most of the things. But for airplane need to be Cura its the only slicer have the feature. Surface mode.I have heard good things about the prusa slicer, why is cura better for this? I have been out of fdm printing for a few years, i have a resin printer at the moment, so this is all kinda new again for me.
Getting better and better every time we print! So nice to have you at the shop yesterday, thanksHad a nice long talk with Rafael on 3D printing. While these are effectively CNC machines there is still a lot that comes from the operatior! That is to say there is still a lot of “art” to the cold code. I was shocked to see how much the output depends on the setup, that is not defined in the print file. The later parts are just fantastic and noticably better than the earlier attempts.
Really? i didn't know that, I'm dying to test. we had a problem in version 13 of cura. this version came out with a problem that wouldn't let us slice the wings of a perimeter properly. but they fixed it after two days to version 13.1 now everything is workingThere is a new version of the Prusa Slicer out now that should be able to print planes.![]()
That’s really good news, thank youHugh,
We have a new EDF on its way to us for testing. It is a brand new design and sounds like it will be a good fit. The designer of the Seagull has asked if we could locate and source EDFs for him as little did he know this has become a rare size in the EDF world. Anyhow, we will post up once we get them in and see how they fit. There may be some redesign work needed to accept this new fan. We should have them pretty soon, the manufacturer is just completing the first fans and will be rushing some to us.
For now you may hunt around some local shops and see if you can find one of the older fans sitting on a shelf somewhere. Seems that is exactly what others are doing as we only saw one other fan in production in this size, and it was a bit more spendy, but is a good unit.
I'm actually working on thisThat’s really good news, thank youI scoured other forums about possibility of using 50mm but I’m not confident enough to alter stl file
